Alexandra Warren, Painter
Born in New York, New York in 1963.
Alexandra grew up in Greece and continues to spend time there when not in Scotland. Her childhood and art “education” were influenced by family excursions to ancient Greek sites, Byzantine mosaics, icons in Greek Orthodox churches and collections of Cycladic art. Her grandmother, Jo Jenks, sculptor and textile artist was an important influence.
She began painting on the Greek island of Paros at the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts. She studied with Roni Horn at Colgate University and Italian art history, fresco painting and egg-tempera techniques in Florence with Syracuse University. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from Rhode Island School of Design in 1986.
Her work has been exhibited at the Ward-Nasse Gallery, New York, Gallery One, New Haven Connecticut, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence Rhode Island, the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts, Paros, Greece, the Fulbright Foundation, Athens Greece, the Robert Frey Gallery, Seattle Washington. Since 2007 she has been exhibiting in the Scottish Borders, most recently at the Flat Cat Gallery in Lauder. Currently part of a group exhibition at Paxton House as a member of Crossing Borders.
Her paintings are in private collections in the United States, United Kingdom and Greece.
Alexandra resides in the Scottish Borders.
